Interest in Latin music is growing rapidly in the Central Valley.  Due to the increasing population of Latinos in the San Joaquin Valley and the influx of bay area transplants, which includes many Cubans, Puerto Ricans and South Americans, the demand for quality, professional concert and dance music is ever increasing.  This is particularly true with regard to Latin jazz and night club style Latin dance music.

While the demand for traditional “Mexican music,” such as norteño, banda and tejano is at an all time high, with many venues and local bands playing up and down the valley, the rapidly emerging segment of Latin music is “musica tropical.”  This category includes the familiar “salsa” label as well as mambo, cha cha, cubia, merenque and bachata.  The night club scene from Stockton to Modesto and Merced is beginning to catch up with the trend by offering DJ and live salsa music on special nights of the week.

Located in Modesto, Olé Productions is an entertainment business targeting this growing demand.  The company was started in 2000 by business attorney, Armando M. Flores.  Olé Productions first began by producing live concerts featuring Latin Jazz at the State Theatre in downtown Modesto.  The music appealed to a wide variety of music lovers who expressed an interest in dancing to the music

Among the notable talents that OlP Productions has brought to the local area are Latin jazz conga player, Mario Flores, band leader Pete Escovedo, Cuban musician Carlos Caro, and bay area transplant  Richard “Timbalero.” Martinez.  The concerts evolved into salsa dance promotions with live music at The Season’s Multi-Cultural Event Center in Modesto, which boasts a large dance ballroom.  Most recently Olé Productions provided the musical talent for the opening of the new salsa nightclub, the Rumba Room at the DoubleTree Hotel, in 2008.

Armando M. Flores and Evone Gonzalez are the owner’s of Olé Productions.  Armando Flores is the Promotions Director.  Evone is the Director of Marketing.  Although Armando is a business attorney with an active practice in Modesto, he has found the time to become a promoter, providing a variety of Latin music talent for concerts, fund raisers, dances, wedding receptions, county fairs, and festivals.  Evone Gonzalez , who joined Olé Productions in 2007, has owned and operated her own marketing company and presently works in marketing at 105.5 KRVR, “The River” Smooth Jazz Radio Station, and the founder and President of the Women's Empowerment Group

As the demand for live dance music in this category continues to grow so to will the events, and opportunity for the public to enjoy them, produced by OlP Productions.  This will include the up-coming First Annual Latin Music and Salsa Festival on September 12, 2009.
